BergaMASK® FILTERS
Each type of filter, not only of the BergaMASK® brand but of any other production, refers to specific standards that regulate the test methodology.
The filters are divided into two large families: the filters used for filtering dust ( FFP filters ) and the filters used for filtering bacteria ( filters for medical use ).
A comparison between the two families is not possible as the tests that certify their performance are completely different.
Below is a detailed description of BergaMASK® filters which can help you select the most suitable filter for each activity.
GENERIC FILTER
Water-repellent filter for the containment of the droplet effect : prevents "saliva droplets" from reaching other people by sneezing, coughing or simply speaking.
The filter is characterized by an excellent breathability .
The filter acts both inbound and outbound .
The filter has not been subjected to dust filtration tests or bacterial filtration efficiency.
Some examples of use: sports, walking, shopping, meeting with relatives or friends, working environments where toxic or fibrogenic powders and aerosols or direct contact with patients (offices, shops, ...) are not expected .
FFP FILTRI (1, 2, 3)
The certified FFP filters refer to the UNI EN 149 standard "Dust filter half masks" .
The respiratory masks, divided into three classes (FFP1, FFP2, FFP3/N95), protect against aerosols, smoke and aqueous and oily fine dust during work.
The protection classes FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3/N95 offer, depending on the total loss and filtering of particles up to 0.6 μm in size, respiratory protection for different concentrations of harmful substances .
The filter acts both inbound and outbound .
A higher filtering capacity corresponds to a lower breathability.
FFP2
- Protection against dust, smoke and solid and liquid aerosols harmful to health
- The particles can be fibrogenic, that is to say that in the short term they cause irritation of the respiratory tract and in the long term they cause a reduction in the elasticity of the lung tissue
- The total loss can be at most 11%
Respiratory masks of protection class FFP2 are
suitable for work environments in which breathing air contains
substances harmful to health and capable of causing genetic alterations .
Respiratory masks of protection class FFP2 are used for example in the
metallurgical industry or in the mining industry .
FFP3/N95
- Protection from dust, smoke and solid aerosols and liquids that are toxic and harmful to health
- This protection class filters out carcinogenic and radioactive harmful substances and pathogenic microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria and fungi
- The total loss can be a maximum of 5%
Respiratory masks of protection class FFP3/N95 offer the
maximum possible protection from pollution.
These are used for example in the
chemical industry .
MEDICAL DEVICE FILTERS (TYPE IIR)
The certified medical filters refer to the UNI EN 14683: 2019 standard "Facial masks for medical device" for which tests are performed breathability, bacterial filtration efficiency (BFE) and splash resistance .
The IIR category represents the highest degree of protection as regards medical face masks.
The filter contributes to avoiding that particles expelled by operators (e.g. saliva, mucus) reach the patient or the work environment ;
it is also suitable for situations in which exposure to the patient's blood and / or body fluids or to the work environment represents a risk for the healthcare professional.
From UNI EN 14683: 2019: "Type IIR medical face masks can be used for patients and operators to reduce the risk of spreading infections , in particular in epidemic or pandemic situations .
Type IIR masks are intended for use by health workers in the operating room or in other medical activities with similar requirements ".
< The filter acts both inbound and outbound.
Some examples of use: hospital environments, medical offices, dental offices .
ALL FILTERS ALREADY SOLD WITH "TYPE II" LABEL PRESENT ALREADY PERFORMANCE "TYPE IIR".
